Croatia is a country in Europe. It is located in the south and has a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea, which belongs to the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of Croatia is Zagreb. It is also by far the largest city in the country.
Croatia is slightly larger than Switzerland, but it has half as many inhabitants. This is slightly more than the population of Berlin. Nine out of ten residents consider themselves Croats. The rest of the inhabitants are Serbs. After the war between Croatia and Serbia, fewer Serbs live in Croatia than before.
The official language is Croatian. Most Croats belong to the Catholic Church.
