Taoyuan (Chinese trad. 桃園, pinyin Táoyuán) is an area of the city of central subordination Taoyuan.
In the 18th century, settlers of the Hakka people settled here. They planted peach trees in the vicinity and named the area "Tao-ah-yuan", which means "peach garden". Then this name was transformed into "Taoyuan", and under this name the settlement is mentioned in the documents of the Qing Empire in 1888.
