Bolzano is a province in Italy.
Thanks to the spread of the German and Ladin languages, the province has a special status with the official name Autonomous Province of Bolzano-Alto Adige or Autonomous Province of Bozen-South Tyrol.
It is part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, which is also autonomous.
The area of the province is 7400 km², the population is more than 500,000 inhabitants.

The administrative center is the city of Bolzano (Bozen).
Most of the inhabitants use the Austro-Bavarian dialect of German (South Tyrolean version of German), about a quarter speak Italian, and a small part of the population speaks Ladin.
As part of the European Union, the province is part of the Tyrol - South Tyrol - Trentino Euroregion, whose borders almost completely coincide with the borders of the historic Tyrol region.
