Kongsberg (Norwegian Kongsberg) is a city and commune in the province (county) of Buskerud in southern Norway, in the historical region of Numedal. The city of Consberg is the administrative center of the commune of the same name.

The city was founded under the name Konings Bierg ("Royal Mountain") in 1624 by King Christian IV for the extraction of ore. The status of the city was awarded in 1802. On January 1, 1964, the rural communes of Yutre Sandswehr and Ovre Sandswehr were incorporated into Consberg. Consberg is the headquarters of the largest Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Gruppen. The city, located on the Numedalslogen river, has three waterfalls within the city limits.
