Ghent - the undiscovered gem of the Flemish cities
Watch camera online in Ghent
The heart of Ghent is the section of the Leie between two bridges, built up with magnificent medieval and Renaissance houses on the Korenlei and Graslei embankments. In fact, this is a large square, with cafes and restaurants on the edges, and numerous boats in the middle. Perhaps nowhere else in Flanders is there such an amazing combination of land and water into a spacious and at the same time cozy urban space!
Ghent is always fun and lively, as in any student city. The whole city is ideal for cycling. Such walks are also beautiful at night, when all the more or less interesting buildings are illuminated. A festive atmosphere for tourists is also created by the cheerful, lively character of the Ghent residents themselves.
The city has an opera house, a surprisingly rich selection of museums, even more churches and countless bridges overhanging the two rivers that run through Ghent. Hop on your bike and explore Patershol, a maze of charming cobbled streets, a castle of the Counts of Flanders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site Bell Tower.
