Odense is the third largest city in Denmark, the main city of the island of Funen.

The city is located near the Odense Fjord and stands on the Odense River. Train station on the Copenhagen - Jutland line. The canal (7.5 m deep), dug in 1796-1806, connects the city with the fjord.
Today, Odense remains a shopping center in Funen and has a prominent shopping area with many shops. There are several large enterprises in the city, including the Albany brewery and GASA. It is Denmark's largest dealer for vegetables, fruits and flowers. The city has the Odense Palace, erected by King Frederick IV, who died there in 1730, the Odense Theater, the Odense Symphony Orchestra and the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, located in the house where the writer was born.
