The development of Ivrea is associated with the Olivetti company, which was founded in 1908 by Camillo Olivetti. The typewriter factory became a powerful industrial, cultural and social project. In the 1930-60's Camillo's son Adriano Olivetti took the family business to a new level, expanding the output.

The factory buildings and urban buildings of Ivrea were designed by famous architects of the time. They are of great historical importance and were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018 under the title "Ivrea - Industrial City of the 20th Century".
