The city of Luther Vittenberg is a district city in Germany, in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, on the Elbe River. Located 100 km from Berlin and 70 km from Leipzig.

In the 16th century it was a major center of the cultural, scientific and political life of Germany, played a significant role at the beginning of the Reformation, was the place of activity of Martin Luther, Philip Melanchthon and Lucas Cranach, as well as the Karptsov family of famous medieval lawyers. Local attractions: Luther's house, Melanchthon's house and the castle church are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. It was the center of the principality of Saxe-Wittenberg; in the 16th century, the seat of the Elector of Saxony was located in Wittenberg.
