Jéenice is a city in the northwestern part of Slovenia, near the borders with Italy and Austria. It is located on the Sava Dolinska River, which merges with Sava Bohinjska below the city to form Sava. The population of the city is 13 429 people according to the 2002 census, the population of the whole Jesenice community is 21 620 people.

The name "Jesenice" comes from the word ash (Slovenian Jêsen). However, the name of the city itself does not come from a tree, but from the river "Yesenice" (young ash trees, plural), on the banks of which a settlement arose, therefore they say "on the Yesenitsa".
